Physical event and online streaming Naples Shipping Week 2022 (AGAVE room) 29th September 2022 10:00 – 13:30.

The Conference will be organized by RAM Spa – SPC ITALY in the framework of the 2022 ESN Italian Presidency focused on revitalizing the discussions on the future of Short Sea Shipping (SSS), within the current geopolitical framework, and on outlining its role in the framework of the challenges that SSS needs to face in order to comply with the numerous requirements of the Green Deal and of the European Commissions’ Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy while maintaining its competitivity.

It will be and opportunity to present the results of the ESN position paper elaborated following the results of the webinars held in 2022: “The importance of eco incentives for SSS and the maritime sector” and “Digitalization and environmental sustainability as drivers in the change of SSS”. The ESN Paper intends to fuel the debate on how SSS can contribute, within the current geopolitical framework, to reaching the targets and goals of the EU policies, such as the Green Deal and the EU Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy.

National and EU Institutions will give an overview of the future scenarios of SSS towards 2027, with particular reference to policies, programmes and funding opportunities. There will be a discussion table on the ESN position paper with the main representatives of the maritime transport sector, such as associations, ports, transport and logistics operators, shipowners, ship builders, research centers and financial institutions.
